With the arrival of spring 2025, the City of Ottawa is taking proactive steps to prevent the spread of Oak Wilt—a serious fungal disease that affects oak trees. Although Oak Wilt has not been detected in Ottawa, there have been confirmed cases in Southern Ontario. The City’s Forestry Services team has developed an Oak Wilt Response Plan, which includes important pruning restrictions for oak trees between April 1 and August 31, 2025.
